Why Drug-Safe and not Drug-Free?
Many organisations try to create a work environment that is drug free. This is an unrealistic and impossible goal as it you can’t eliminate drugs from our society as many people who work require medication or prescribed drugs to enable them to lead a normal, productive and pain free life.While some of these medications require professional management under a Doctor or pharmacists’ care they are not the drugs that are most concerning. The drugs that are targeted through a Drug-Safe Workplace programme identify illegal drugs, or prescription drugs that we know will affect a persons’ ability, if taken in excess.
(For example, alcohol is a legal drug that changes a persons’ personality, behaviour and is recognised as a catalyst towards taking unreasonable risks.)

From years of experience we’re aware there’s a right and wrong way to introduce a Drug-Safe programme into an established community or workplace culture. The successful way to create an enduring and sustainable Drug-Safe programme is to work with the majority of workers who do not take drugs.For example, if you suspect 15% or even 20% of your team members, pupils or staff are involved in substance abuse, the best allies that you have available to promote a Drug-Safe programme are the 80% - 85% who have to associate with the drug users. Through drug awareness workshops we will challenge your organisation and show simple but effective ways to take ownership and responsibility for their own well being. Within a short time, in most cases, we find whole communities, workplaces, schools and sports clubs become sanctuary’s of drug-safety.
